A hotel room, cluttered, messed up, a recent disaster area, the disaster known as teenage revelry. Six figures lay around the rubble of a night's worth of partying, sleeping soundly. All except one, the figure fidgeted, turned over and the glint in the darkness signified the opening of eyes.
Jhun blinked slowly, trying to orient himself to the image he saw before him. Rising slowly, he smiled wistfully at the clutter surrounding him and the rest. Climbing over, he was careful not to disturb the body under him, wrapped up in blankets, snoring softly. Noticing the packet of chips that lay on his chest, threatening to spill, Jhun slowly lifted it away, out of a messy hazard. Dare turned to the other side, mumbling something incoherent.
'Wow', mused Jhun to himself, now standing at the side of the queen sized bed he shared with Dare and what must me Mike, on the edge of it, looking as if he might just topple over anytime. The full gravity of the drunken upholstering they had done to the place hit him as he got a good look of it. Chuckling to himself, he remembered that three were missing from the gathering. Shaun and the other two had went to the barbeque spot to fry some dogs earlier, though he should have been with them if not for his stomach. He was never fond of curry, he noted and decided to keep a wide berth away from the stuff from now on.
Looking at the figure at his feet, he bent down and covered KF better with the comforter he had curled around himself. Jhun was the oldest of the group, and he had ever played the role of an older brother to the rest, albeit one who had a rather sharp tongue. He stumbled around and searched for his phone, wanting to contact Shaun and make sure they didn't burn the place down, or worse. His best friend wasn't an idiot in many ways, the boy was gifted at a good many things, but taking care of his surroundings is not one of them. The other two were also another nagging worry, Vi and Kev are a bit less accident prone, noting and emphasizing the 'bit' part.
Finding his phone under a pile of Twistie packets, he quickly punched the speed dial and listened as the phone attempted to make contact with the other. The beep of the tone signified the loss of signal. Grimacing slightly, he tossed the phone aside, Malaysia wasn't known for reliable phone companies he noted sourly. Well, maybe he should check their room, the boys could be back by now. Not bothering to collect any of his items (he'll pack up tomorrow anyway) he shuffled quietly to the room door. A sudden instinct stopped him from opening the door straight away however. Not knowing what drove him to the action, he peered out the eyehole, feeling an ominous pulse at the back of his spine.
The corridor was dark, lightless. Confused, Jhun jammed his eye right up to the glass, nothing but pitch black greeted him, albeit with slight hints of moonlight that fell too lightly to give any proper illumination. Worry overtaking any feelings of fear for now, he doubled back and dove for his phone, dialing his friend's number again. Only the signaless beep answered him. A full frown decorating his features now, he decided to wake Dare up.
'Hey! Wake up! Diu!', Jhun cursed as he gave the boy a hard shake.
A sleepy eye opened to regard him, Dare's fair features crinkled in a mixture of annoyance and curiosity, Jhun doesn't bother anybody unless its urgent.
'What? Wassup?', croaked the boy groggily, sitting up slightly to prevent himself from dozing off.
'The whole damn hall is dark man, and I can't call the idiots with my phone,' said Jhun, a good dose of worry in his voice. 'I hope their back already, or at least in the hotel, I got a bad feeling liao.'
'Oi.. Chou meh? (What? in chinese) What's wrong?' came a question from the other side of the bed, Mike had woken from the little ruckus Jhun was making.
'There are no lights outside, and I haven't heard from Shaun,' Jhun said, leaving out the fact that he had a really bad gut feeling, like one a mother would have when her children are in danger. 'Maybe we should go out and find em.'
'Wake the others la then,' Dare offered, fully aware now, he didn't like the idea of the three outside poking around in the dark either. He made his way to the switches, wanting to get some lights up. Flicking the switches one by one, only darkness greeted him when he looked back. 'Powers out, probably,' frowning he picked up the hotel phone. 'No line either, What the fuck?!'
All three of them froze then, all of them hearing the same thing over Dare's voice, a whooshing sound from outside the balcony. Mike, closest to the blinds on that side, swiped them aside. Just in time.
A body fell past ragdoll like. That wasn't all, they caught a glimpse of it as it went by. The figure had no face, no genitalia and it had turned its head towards them as it passed.
Mike dropped off the bed.
